Savings Bonds
The Credit Union sells Series EE (regular), also known as Patriot Bonds, and I (indexed) bonds, and redeems Series E, EE, I and Savings Notes. Only the Federal Reserve is authorized to redeem HH bonds; however, the Credit Union can perform HH exchanges.
Series I and Series EE Bonds may also be purchased online at www.treasurydirect.gov. Here you can establish a secure account with the U.S. Treasury through TreasuryDirect to manage your purchases and redemptions online without paper.
Bonds purchased by some members after December 31, 1989 may be tax-exempt when used to:
- Pay tuition and fees at qualified educational institutions; or
- Make contributions to a qualified state tuition program.
Bonds purchased on or before December 31, 1989 are not eligible for the tax-exempt status. For more information or to find out the value of your savings bonds, contact your local branch, the Call Center or visit the U.S. Government savings bonds Web site at www.savingsbonds.gov.
